This was a major renovation of a modern mid-century apartment. It was beautiful, but some of the spaces didn’t work well for contemporary living.
My part was mainly to work with the client on colours, fabrics and furniture. We really enjoyed our sessions choosing furniture (mostly retro) and putting together a beautiful assortment of colour and pattern in fabrics that all work well together and do justice to the furniture and special apartment.
We finalised different schemes for upstairs from downstairs. The upstairs is in blues, taking in the sea views from those rooms.
Downstairs was all about colour. My client loves colour and it was a delight to work with someone who was willing to go there. The green and orange scheme with a careful mix of patterns works very well and my clients are happy with the result.
Gaye was recommended to me by a good friend as an interior designer who would understand what I liked and not just push what was currently fashionable on to me.
I really enjoyed working with her, she was clear in her communication, always delivered on time and got just as excited as I did about the possibilities. Gaye helped me bring bold colour and pattern into our mid-century modern apartment renovation, finding ways to bring fresh life to second hand pieces and to effectively mix in new pieces, making spaces work really well for our lifestyle.
She is very knowledgeable about design period authenticity, made practical recommendations and most of all, we had fun!”
