Equilibrium Interiors
I work with my clients to discover their style and bring it to life through the design of the interior and exterior of their home. Whether they want modern interior design or something that’s “out there”, the end result is unique and personal to them.
My clients include individuals, families, and companies, helping them with projects as small as a single room, right up to entire retirement villages.
A highlight involved donating my time to help HOBANZ build a home for someone who had lost everything during the leaky home period. The handover was live on television and the client was delighted with what I had put together for her, without her knowledge or input.
I have a Diploma in Interior Design (CPIT) and am a Professional Member of the Designers’ Institute of New Zealand. This involves going before a board of your peers where they review your processes as much as your work before you are accepted as a professional member.
Builders, Developers & Businesses
I consult for large building companies, working directly with their clients to develop the modern interior design schemes for their new dream homes. As well as working with developers to do colour schemes and product specifications.
I’m also involved in large projects such as retirement villages. The largest was a new build of 71 apartments, developing schemes, specifying all products, finishes and colours. This included renovating the existing lounge, bar, restaurant, offices, hairdressing salon and a new cafe.
In addition to residential projects, I also design interiors for boutique offices and businesses, as well as health clinics.
Teaching & Training
I love teaching and training others in interior design, having written and taught over twenty modules covering all aspects of interior design including the History of Architecture and Design, Colour, The Principles and Elements of Design, Furniture, Fabrics and Soft Furnishings, Feng Shui and more.
For 10 years I was an off-campus tutor for the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand’s Interior Design and Decorating Course and taught all subjects on Nanette Cameron’s interior design course for three years.
In addition, for a major retail chain, I’ve provided training for their staff in Colour and The Principles and Elements of Design.

My Story
I started out in advertising where I had huge responsibility for other people’s money and campaigns, and detail was everything.
However, I was drawn to having a more hands-on creative career. Interested in houses and modern interior design, I did a casual interior design course for one morning a week, for two years.
Realising I wanted to make a career of it, I went back to school and studied at the Auckland School of Interior Design (run by CPIT) for four years. The assignments were fast and furious and the training was excellent!
While I was still training, I was lucky enough to be asked by friends and business acquaintances to do work in their homes and businesses. So, I went straight into starting my own business and Equilibrium Interiors was born.
Twenty years on, I have never looked back and never lost my passion for interior design.
